Quick Answer
For most flights to France, fly Air France into Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), its main hub. From the UK, for example, Air France flies there from Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Edinburgh.
Before you book, however, check what your fare includes, because with Air France’s Basic fare you can only bring a small cabin bag unless you add a hand bag. Download the Air France app to manage your booking, check in, and receive live flight updates.
The Sunset Weekly Connection Reality: Direct connection options from major UK regional airports make flying into Air France’s Paris-Charles de Gaulle hub highly convenient for onward transit. Double-checking your ticket tier baggage rules and keeping flight details handy on your mobile device prevents unexpected airport add-on fees.

UK Travellers: Six Airports to Paris-CDG

From the UK, Air France flies to Paris-CDG from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Edinburgh. So whether you live in the south, the Midlands, the north of England or Scotland, there’s usually an Air France flight from an airport near you.
Heathrow and Gatwick
At Heathrow, Air France planned up to six daily flights to Paris-CDG in summer 2026. What’s more, in July 2026 it opened its first Heathrow lounge, in Terminal 4. The lounge is open from 5am to 10pm for La Première and Business customers, except on the Business Light fare, as well as Flying Blue Elite Plus members.
Meanwhile, Gatwick joined the network in March 2026, with two Airbus A220 flights a day. According to Gatwick Airport, they leave at 10:30 and 17:10 and land at CDG at 12:40 and 19:20, local time. Since it’s a new route, though, check that it’s running on your travel dates.
Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Edinburgh
If you live outside London, you don’t need to travel to Heathrow first. Instead, fly straight to Paris-CDG from Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle or Edinburgh, then connect onwards from there.
UK Fares Seen for 2027
| From | Example travel dates | Economy return fare seen |
|---|---|---|
| Manchester | 31 January to 3 February 2027 | £100 |
| Manchester | 10 to 13 January 2027 | £107 |
| Heathrow | November 2026 dates | £102 |
| Birmingham | 1 to 8 September 2027 | £130 |
Source: airfrance.co.uk, seen 15 October 2026. Air France says these fares were collected within the last 48 hours and may no longer be available.
So treat these fares as a guide, then search your own dates on airfrance.co.uk. Also, if you’re only visiting Paris from London, the train is worth comparing too. In that case, my guide to planning a France trip by train covers the route in detail.
US Travellers: 20 Gateways in Summer 2027

For summer 2027, Air France will serve 20 US destinations. These are Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Nashville, New York-JFK, New York-Newark, Orlando, Phoenix, Raleigh-Durham, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
Two of these, however, are new. First, San Diego starts on 3 May 2027. Then Nashville follows on 14 May 2027. After that, both will have three flights a week from Paris-CDG, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with an Airbus A350-900. That means they suit a July to September 2027 trip, although they won’t be running yet for a January to March visit.
For checked bags, Air France’s US website lists an Economy allowance of either no bag or one bag of up to 23 kg on flights between the US and Europe. So check your own fare’s allowance, and since US baggage fees are listed separately, see airfrance.us before you pay for extra bags. Also, when you fly from the US, your hand baggage follows TSA rules.
How I Checked These Flights

When I plan a flight, I want to know three things first: where I can fly from, what my fare includes and how I get onwards. So for this guide, I used Air France’s own websites for the UK, the US and Germany, as well as its corporate press releases.
I also compared that with the advice you’ll often find elsewhere. For example, many guides still say Air France flies its domestic routes from Orly. However, since summer 2026, its Toulouse, Nice and Marseille flights use Paris-CDG instead. So wherever older advice differed, I followed Air France.
Why Fly Into Paris-Charles de Gaulle?

Paris-CDG is Air France’s hub, so it shapes your whole trip. In fact, according to Air France, the hub connects to nearly 200 destinations with over 800 flights a day. As a result, every Air France route from the UK, the US, Switzerland and Germany in this guide lands here.
Better still, you don’t need to go into Paris to continue your journey. That’s because the Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV station sits in Terminal 2, with direct trains to more than 50 French cities.
Belgian Travellers: Air&Rail From Brussels-Midi
From Belgium, Air France’s main option is Air&Rail, which links Brussels-Midi station with Paris-CDG by high-speed TGV. In fact, Air France celebrated 25 years of this connection in March 2026.
Once you book Air&Rail, a single booking covers both your train and your flight. Better still, if there’s a delay, Air France rebooks you on the next available train or flight at no extra cost. You also travel in first class on the TGV between Brussels-Midi and CDG.
For bags, you can check them in at Brussels-Midi and collect them at your final destination. In addition, the Air&Rail Terminal at the station offers bag check-in the day before you fly, from 8am to 3pm. Finally, you can book Air&Rail on airfrance.be, at the terminal itself or through a travel agency.
Swiss Travellers: Three Airports to Paris-CDG
From Switzerland, Air France flies direct to Paris-CDG from Zurich, Geneva and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Indeed, France’s official tourism website lists these as the main Swiss airports for flights to France.
Once you land at CDG, you can then fly on with Air France or take a TGV from Terminal 2. That way, you can reach Lyon, Marseille or Bordeaux without changing airports.
German Travellers: Five Airports to Paris-CDG
From Germany, Air France’s website lists flights to Paris-CDG from Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Düsseldorf and Hanover.
For example, on 15 October 2026, airfrance.de showed Economy return fares from Berlin to Paris-CDG from €109, for travel from 11 to 14 March 2027. Similarly, it listed €110 for both 9 to 16 January and 17 February to 2 March 2027. Still, like the UK site, it says these fares were valid within the last 48 hours, so check live prices before you book.
Travelling Within France by Air
Within France, Air France has also moved its Paris domestic flights to Paris-CDG. From summer 2026, all its flights to Toulouse, Nice and Marseille depart from CDG, with up to 12, 12 and 10 daily flights respectively. Flights to and from Corsica are the exception, because they operate under a Public Service Obligation.
Meanwhile, Transavia is now the Air France-KLM Group’s main airline at Paris-Orly. Since 29 March 2026, it has flown from Orly to Toulouse, Nice and Marseille. So before you book a domestic flight, check which Paris airport it uses.
Air France Baggage Rules for 2027
| Bag | Size and weight | What’s included |
|---|---|---|
| Small bag | 40 × 30 × 15 cm | One on every fare, in every cabin |
| Hand bag | 55 × 35 × 25 cm | None or one in Economy, depending on the fare, and two in Premium, Business and La Première |
| Cabin weight limit | 12 kg combined in Economy and Premium, and 18 kg in Business and La Première | Covers your small bag plus any hand bags |
| Checked bag | Up to 158 cm in total, and 23 kg in Economy and Premium or 32 kg in Business and La Première | Depends on your fare, so check before you pay |
Source: Air France baggage pages, checked 15 October 2026. These rules apply to flights operated by Air France.
If you book the Basic fare, you can bring a small bag but no hand bag. However, you can add the Hand Baggage option online, at the airport or in My Bookings, up to 4 hours before departure. Also, Flying Blue Gold members and above can bring a hand bag free.
For extra checked bags, buy the Additional Baggage option in My Bookings, up to 30 hours before departure. Buying it at least 24 hours ahead costs less than paying at the airport. The exception, though, is flights to or from the US and Canada, where the online price matches the airport price.
Meanwhile, overweight bags up to 32 kg and oversized bags up to 300 cm are paid for at the airport on the day. Finally, if a partner airline operates one of your flights, check its rules too, and follow the strictest ones on connecting trips.
How to Choose Your Air France Fare

When you search on Air France’s website, compare what each fare includes before you pay. In particular, check the number of bags and the change conditions.
Also, use every flight on your ticket, in order. Air France says a fare is valid only when the ticket is used in its entirety, in order and on the dates shown. Otherwise, in Economy, you pay an extra flat fare at the airport of €150 within Europe or €500 on intercontinental flights.
If you’re also collecting miles, my Flying Blue guide explains how they work with Air France.
Flying On From Paris-CDG: Train + Air
If your trip continues beyond Paris, look at Air France’s Train + Air. With it, one reservation covers your flight and your train, and if there’s a disruption, you’re rebooked on the next train or flight at no extra cost. Since 16 October 2025, it has also included OUIGO trains, and Air France said 27 French stations would be connected to CDG by September 2026.
Train + Air also gives you priority baggage drop-off at CDG, and you can book it up to a year ahead. However, once your trip starts, the train ticket can’t be changed or refunded.

Getting From Paris-CDG Into Central Paris
For a January to March 2027 trip, take the RER B into Paris. An airport ticket costs €14, and the Paris Visite pass also covers the airports.
For a July to September 2027 trip, by contrast, you’ll have a new option. That’s because the CDG Express is due to open on 28 March 2027, linking the airport with Gare de l’Est in 20 minutes. Trains are planned every 15 minutes from 5am to midnight, and a standard single ticket costs €25.
Winter or Summer 2027: What Changes for Your Flight?

The Most Common Mistakes When Flying to France
- Booking Basic, then needing a hand bag. Instead, add the Hand Baggage option up to 4 hours before departure, or choose a fare that includes one.
- Skipping a flight on your ticket. Because Air France fares are valid only when used in order, a missed segment can cost €150 in Europe or €500 on long-haul flights.
- Paying for extra bags at the airport. Buy them online at least 24 hours ahead instead, except on US and Canada routes.
- Assuming domestic flights leave from Orly. Since summer 2026, Air France’s Toulouse, Nice and Marseille flights use Paris-CDG.
- Travelling to London when you live elsewhere in the UK. Often, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle or Edinburgh has a direct Air France flight to Paris-CDG.
Why Book Your Flights to France With Air France

First, Air France’s hub at Paris-CDG gives you nearly 200 destinations and a TGV station in Terminal 2. As a result, your flight and your onward journey connect in one place.

Finally, every Air France flight earns Flying Blue miles. In addition, the Air&Rail train segment from Brussels can earn miles, depending on your status and travel class.
